1. About us and these terms

These terms apply when you use this website, whether you are browsing, buying, selling or running a dealer account. By creating an account or placing a listing you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
2. What we do, and what we do not do
- We provide an online marketplace where private sellers and motor dealers advertise used vehicles and buyers contact them.
- We are not the seller of any vehicle and we are not a party to any sale. The contract for a vehicle is between the buyer and the seller. We do not inspect vehicles, hold money or guarantee that a sale will complete.
- We check listings before and after they go live, but we cannot verify everything a seller says. Buyers should always see the vehicle, check its documents and MOT history, and consider an independent history check before paying. Our buying and selling safely page has practical advice.
- We are not a lender or credit broker and do not arrange finance (see section 9).
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 to create an account or place a listing.
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date. Keep your password private: you are responsible for activity on your account.
- One person or business per account. You must not create accounts to get around limits, a suspension or a ban.
- You can delete your account at any time in Account settings. This removes your listings (see our privacy policy for what we keep).
4. Listing a vehicle
When you list a vehicle, you promise that:
- you own the vehicle, or are authorised by the owner to sell it, and it is genuinely available for sale;
- the details, price, mileage and photos are accurate and not misleading, and the photos are of the actual vehicle and taken by you or used with permission;
- you have told buyers about anything important, such as outstanding finance, insurance write-off categories, significant damage, a mileage discrepancy or a change of use;
- the vehicle is not stolen, and you have the right to sell it free of any finance agreement or other claim, or you will clear it before the sale;
- if you sell vehicles in the course of a business, you have registered as a dealer or say clearly in the listing that you are a trader. Traders must not pose as private sellers.
Private sellers may have a limited number of live listings at one time. We may review listings before they are published, and we may edit, pause, refuse or remove any listing, or suspend an account, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms or the law, or to protect our users. We will usually tell you why.
You keep ownership of the text and photos you upload. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, resize and display them on this site and in our promotion of your listing (for example in search results, email alerts and social media previews) for as long as the listing is on the site, and for a reasonable time afterwards in backups.
Please mark your listing as sold, or delete it, once the vehicle is no longer available.
5. Official vehicle data
When a registration number is entered, we look up information from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), such as tax and MOT status, MOT test history and recorded mileage. We show this information as supplied, for guidance only. It can be incomplete or out of date, and it does not show outstanding finance, write-off status or theft markers. We are not responsible for errors in government data.
6. Messages between buyers and sellers
- Messages are sent through the site so that email addresses stay private. Keep conversations on the site where possible: it helps us protect you if something goes wrong.
- Do not send spam, abusive or threatening messages, or use messages to advertise other services or collect personal information for other purposes.
- We may review messages that are reported to us, or when we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse.
7. Things you must not do
- Post false, misleading, duplicate or copied listings, or listings for anything other than a vehicle you are selling.
- Copy text or photos from other websites or sellers without permission.
- Attempt fraud, including asking for deposits for vehicles that are not available or using fake payment or escrow services.
- Scrape, copy or harvest content or data from the site, or interfere with its security or operation.
- Break any law, or infringe anyone else’s rights.
8. Featured listings (paid)
- You can pay to feature a listing for a fixed period. Featured listings appear in a highlighted “Featured” area of matching search results and on the homepage, marked as paid placement. Prices and periods are shown before you pay and include any VAT that applies.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Your right to cancel: featuring starts immediately after payment. By paying, you ask us to start straight away and you acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right to cancel once the featured period has started. If a featured listing does not start because of a problem on our side, we will refund you in full.
- If we remove a featured listing because it breaks these terms, we do not have to refund the payment. If we remove it for any other reason, or close the service, we will refund the unused part of the featured period.
- Featuring increases visibility; it does not guarantee enquiries or a sale.
9. Finance calculator
The finance calculator on listings is a simple illustration of what hire purchase repayments might look like, using the deposit, term and interest rate that you enter. It is not an offer or quote of finance, not advice, and not a recommendation of any product. We are not a lender or credit broker. Any finance you take out will depend on the lender, your circumstances and credit checks.
10. Dealer accounts
- Businesses that sell vehicles can apply for a dealer account. We may ask for evidence of your business, such as a Companies House number, and we may approve or refuse applications at our discretion.
- Dealers must comply with consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the rules on unfair commercial practices, and must display their business name. Dealer pages and listings must be accurate and kept up to date.
- We may suspend or close a dealer account that breaks these terms or receives repeated justified complaints.
11. Our responsibility to you
- We provide the site with reasonable care and skill, but we do not promise it will always be available or error-free.
- We are not responsible for the vehicles advertised, for what buyers and sellers say or do, or for any sale between them.
- We are not liable for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses (such as lost profits or opportunities) where you use the site for business purposes.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Complaints and reporting
To report a listing, use “Report this listing” on the advert. For anything else, including complaints about us, use our contact form. We aim to reply within two working days and to resolve complaints within 14 days.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example to reflect new features or changes in the law. We will show the date of the latest version at the top, and tell registered users by email about significant changes before they apply.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts and you keep the protection of your local consumer law.
